Why would anyone need to find the Squeezebox Server program files on their computer? The easy way should be just to install the software and run it, not play about with the program files. Alas, sometimes it's necessary. If you've been having problems, you might want to manually delete the whole thing from your computer prior to loading a new version. Or perhaps you're migrating from one machine to another and want to copy over database files, for example to avoid having to manually input all your favorites and ratings.

The following information may differ somwhat depending on exactly which OS version and SB Server version you have, but these notes will provide you with a place to start looking!

Linux - Fedora

Validated on Fedora 20 running Squeezebox Server 7.8.0.

  • /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/
  • /var/log/squeezeboxserver/
  • /usr/libexec/squeezeboxserver
  • /usr/libexec/squeezeboxserver-scanner
  • /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/

OS/X

Validated on OS/X 10.11.3 running Squeezebox Server 7.7.5.

Files may be in the main Library - HD/Library/...
or in a specific User Library - HD/Users/username/Library/...
or both.

  • .../Library/Application Support/Squeezebox/
  • .../Library/Caches/Squeezebox/
  • .../Library/Logs/Squeezebox/
  • .../Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefpane

Windows 7, 8 &10

Validated on Win 7 & Win 10 running Squeezebox Server 7.7.6.

  • C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\
  • C:\Program Files\Squeezebox\

And where are my Music Files?

Open the Squeezebox Server web interface, click the Settings button in the right bottom corner, and choose the Basic Settings tab. There you will find a list of all the media folders that you chose, and also the folder for playlists.
